Elementary Number Theory
B. A Venkov, "Elementary Number Theory"
Wolters-Noordhoff | 1970 | ISBN: 9001896200 | 249 pages | Djvu | 2,1 MB
The present monograph's title 'Elementary number theory'
does not completely describe its principal aim. For it collects together
those results of the classical theory of numbers, and also those new dis-
coveries, which can be achieved by purely arithmetical methods (i.e.
without introducing the concepts of analysis, geometry, and irrational
and complex numbers). Most of this material is generally 'Elementary'
in the ordinary sense of the word. Irrational numbers occur only where
they are essential (chapter II and some sections of chapter IV). This
approach has been taken because algebraic, geometrical and analytical
methods in the theory of numbers form the subject matter for other
monographs in the present series.
