Title:Fly Ash, Slag, Silica Fume, and Rice Husk Ash in Concrete: A ReviewAuthor(s):V. M. MalhotraPublication:Concrete InternationalVolume:15Issue:4Pages:23-28Keywords:admixtures; blast furnace slag; fly ash; hydraulic cements; pozzolans; rice husk ash; silica fume; Materials ResearchDate:April 1, 1993
Abstract:
Portland cement is a highly energy-intensive product, and therefore, to save energy and conserve resources, considerable efforts are being made to find substitute materials for the partial replacement of cement in concrete. Some of the most promising substitutes or supplementary cementing materials are high- and low-calcium fly ashes, ferrous and nonferrous slags, condensed silica fume, and rice husk ash. This paper presents a review on the use of these by-products in concrete.
