The Golden E-Book of Mathematical Surfaces (Free ebook)
by E. Perez
The Golden E-Book of Graphs of Mathematical Surfaces contains 7 chapters of math plots with more than 260 figures, most of them in surfaces in full color.
The book is a visual feast of mathematical graphs with emphasis in showing math surfaces from different viewing angles. The book also contains practical examples about how everyday pictures are transformed under trigonometric and complex variables.
The last chapter is an application dedicated to the journey to Mars of the Mariner 4 spacecraft launched by NASA on November 28, 1964, recomputing the travel assuming an spiral path, but solving the problem from the standpoint of conformal mapping using the complex exponential function. The reader will learn that some apparently difficult problems can be solved by taking other frames of references.
This book is a good complement to trigonometry, calculus, or complex variables courses, specially, as an aid for the teacher or student in visualizing real and complex surfaces behavior. This e-book is in PDF format fully downloadable without any printing restriction for the visitor/reader.
