– Calculate the price of the user selection as follows:

- Black laptop: 2500$.
- White laptop: 3000$.
– Give the following discount on the price and calculate the discounted price as follows:

الموضوع الأول : (10 درجات)
لدراسة الفروق الفردية في مجال التعبير الفني أهمية كبيرة، باعتبار أن لكل طفل حاجاته التربوية الخاصة التي يختلف فيها عن بقية أقرانه. وتمدنا دراسة الفروق الفردية في مجالات التعبير الفني بالأساس العلمي الذي يمكن أن يبني عليه المعلم عمله وتوجيهاته لتلاميذه داخل الفصول الدراسية، وقاعات النشاط المدرسي. في مقالة من عشر صفحات تناول موضوع الفروق الفردية في مجال التعبير الفني من حيث ما يلي:
1. الفروق بين رسوم الأطفال من الجنسين.
2. الفروق بين رسوم الأطفال الصم وأقرانهم العاديين.

لموضوع الثاني : (10 درجات)
كما تساعدنا الرسوم المقننة والحرة في تشخيص الصعوبات ومظاهر الاضطرابات التي يعاني منها الأطفال والمراهقون والكبار على السواء، ومعرفة جذورها الدينامية، فإن للتعبير الفني والرسوم خصوصا تأثيرا علاجيا، ووظائف بنائية لها دورها الفعًال في استعادة التوازن الانفعالي والتوافق الشخصي والاجتماعي للفرد والحفاظ على صحته النفسية. في مقالة من عشر صفحات تحدث بالتفصيل عن رسوم الأطفال العاديين وغير العاديين كوسيلة علاجية.

يعتمد التعلم الذاتي، كي يكون تعلماً حقيقياً وفعالاً، على طائفة من المهارات التي ينبغي أن
يكتسب فيها المتعلم مقدرة شخصية وقوة ذاتية ليكون متعلماً مقتدراً على حسن توجيه ذاته
وتنشيط فاعلياته تجاه تحقيق أهدافه في النمو والتقدم.

4. Find the percentage of male students at each branch. Explain your result (50 words). (5 points)

5. Round the total number of males and females to two significant numbers, for each branch. (5 points)

6. Use Microsoft Excel in presenting your data in bar charts for males and females students for all branches. Explain your results. (15 points)

7. Use Microsoft Excel in presenting your data in pie for the graduate students for all branches. Explain your results (50-75 words). (15 points)

8. Find the percentage increase/decrease in graduate students for all branches; explain your results (50-75) words. (10 points)

9. Find the ratio of the number of graduate students of Kuwait to Lebanon branches. (5 points)

تمثل صعوبات القراءة مشكلة للتلاميذ ذوي صعوبات التعلم، فحوالي ٨٠٪ منهم يجدون صعوبة في القراءة في مختلف مهاراتها. وقد تعددت وتنوعت الدراسات التي بحثت عن ايجاد استراتيجيات وطرق فاعلة لتدريسهم، وقد توصلت إلى استراتيجيات تنوعت من حيث الغرض، حيث اهتم بعضها بتدريس المهارات الأولية للقراءة، والبعض الآخر بتدريس مهارات المرونة في القراءة الجهرية بينما كان الفهم والادراك محط اهتمام الأنواع الأخرى، في مقالة من عشر صفحات تناول بالشرح أهم التوجهات النظرية في تدريس القراءة، واستراتيجيات وطرق تدريسها للتلاميذ الذين لديهم صعوبات في القراءة.

تشغل مشكلات التلاميذ في الإملاء أفكار كثير من الباحثين والمعلمين وأولياء الأمور، إلا أن الحل الجذري لهذه المشكلة التربوية ما زال بعيد المنال. وربما يعود السبب في ذلك إلى نواحي عديدة، منها ما يتعلق بطبيعة الإملاء نفسه، باعتبار أن الإملاء مهارة معقدة لها متطلبات فكرية ومعرفية كثيرة، ومنها ما يتعلق بطرق التدريس المتبعة في المدارس، حيث ما زال هناك فارق في التطبيق بين ما توصي بها نتائج البحوث وما يجري فعلا داخل الفصول الدراسية. في مقالة من عشر صفحات تناول هذا الموضوع أخذا في الاعتبار ما يلي:
١- التوجهات النظرية العامة لتدريس الإملاء.
٢- الأساليب التقليدية في تدريس الإملاء.

تعتبر الذاكرة جزءا أساسيا وضروريا في عملية التعلم. ومن أجل إكتساب حقائق ومهارات وأفكار جديدة فإن نتائج الخبرات التعليمية المحددة يجب الاحتفاظ بها. فالذاكرة تساعد الأطفال على الاستفادة من الخبرات السابقة، والانتفاع من الخبرات الحالية، كما أنها تعد الأطفال للخبرات الجديدة. وعليه فإن القصور في الذاكرة يمكن أن يعيق التعلم، ويسبب صعوبة خلال مراحل التعليم المختلفة. في مقالة من عشر صفحات تحدث عن موضوع صعوبات الذاكرة والأطفال الذين يعانون من صعوبات خاصة في التعلم اخذا في الاعتبار ما يلي:
1- التصنيفات التربوية - النفسية للذاكرة.
2- خطوات تقييم العجز في الذاكرة.
3- الطرق المختلفة التي يمكن أن تساعد الطفل ذي صعوبات التعلم على تذكر ما سبق أن تعلمه من خبرات ، والتي يجب على المعلم اخذها بالاعتبار عند التخطيط لعلاج صعوبات الذاكرة.

تعتبر الكتابة مهارة سابقة للتهجئة والتعبير الكتابي، ولذا فإن العجز في الكتابة سوف يترتب عليه إعاقة للتعبير الكتابي. فتعلم الكتابة يتطلب ضبط وضع الجسم والتحكم في حركة الرأس والذراعين واليدين، كما يتطلب من الطفل أن يفرق ويميز بصريا بين الأشكال والحروف والكلمات والأعداد.. في مقالة من عشر صفحات اشرح هذه العبارة موضحا ما يلي:

يعتبر السلوك التكيفي من المصطلحات الحديثة التي دخلت في ميدان التربية الخاصة في أواسط القرن العشرين، وتم اعتباره محكا ومعيارا أساسيا في تعريف الإعاقة العقلية، إضافة إلى محك الذكاء والقدرة العقلية. وبقي هذا المفهوم حتى وقتنا الحاضر محتفظا بمكانته وأهميته. في مقالة من عشر صفحات تناول موضوع السلوك التكيفي آخذا في الاعتبار ما يلي:

Give a conceptual data model (CDM) for the following given scenario using the Entity-Relationship model, including the complete E-R diagram, the entity types and any required constraints and assumptions.

A social recreation club would like to create a database to keep track of club members, committees and activities. Suppose that after requirements collection and the analysis phase the database designers provide the following descriptions to be represented in the database.
The club forms committees for different activities. Committee is formed by several members. Each committee has a unique name, a unique number, and a particular member who manages the committee. The system keeps track of the start date when that member began managing the committee. A committee controls a number of activities, each of which has a unique name, a unique number and description of the event. A committee may organize activities for several events. The database stores the member’s unique identification number, member name, address, gender and birth date. A member is assigned to one committee, but may participate on several activities, which are not necessarily controlled by the same committee. The system keeps track of the direct head of team members (who is another member). For payment purpose the system also keeps track of details of non-club members participating in the activities, in special circumstances. Their details to be stored in the system are artist’s first name, gender, birth date and the club member who recommended them to the club.

Question 1: A GPS Based Application at AOU (40 Marks)
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a location system developed by the United States Department of Defense (DOD) for its tremendous application as a military locating utility. Over the past years, the GPS has proven to be a useful tool in non-military mapping applications.
Suppose that the Research and Development department (R&D) at the Arab Open University intends to implement GPS based applications and that its research members are currently searching for novel student-ended applications. Your role in this question of your TMA is to help the AOU R&D department in understanding what GPS is and finding interesting GPS applications. To do so, you are supposed to edit a short report that fairly answers the following questions:
 What is GPS and how it works? (≈200 Words). (8 Marks)
 How accurate is it? What limits its performance and affects its accuracy? Illustrate at least two limitations (≈200 Words). (8 Marks)
In your report, you should also:
 Mention and briefly explain two different GPS applications that might be used by the Arab Open University; (≈200 Words) (8 Marks)
 Recommend one of these applications and provide strong arguments for your recommendation. (≈100 Words) (4 Marks)

Notes for Question 1:

 Your report should be between 700 and 800 words in length. Under-length and over-length reports will be penalized. (2 Marks)
 Your report should include at least two figures and/or tables. Do not forget to include a caption for each figure/table and to use cross-referencing. (3 Marks)
 Ensure that your report meets the objectives, has an appropriate structure and style, and that its technical level is appropriate for the audience, purpose and medium. For more details, you can refer to the T215 textbooks (Block 1 – Part 7; Block 2 – Part 7 and Block 3). (4 Marks)
 Your report should be based on reliable resources (i.e. journal articles, technical reports, conference papers, international textbooks) and you should provide a reference list at the end of your report. The references should be in a standard form. (3 Marks)

Question 2: The all-singing, all-dancing mobile device (25 Marks)

T215A permitted you to learn many concepts related to Communication and Information technologies such as: Mobile devices, WLAN, storage devices, etc. Consequently, you are supposed to use what you learned in real-life situations.

Suppose that you are a seller in a well-known mobiles shop and a curious customer is interested in buying the new “Samsung Galaxy Note 3 LTE” mobile device. This curious customer downloaded and printed the mobile phone’s technical specifications from the official Samsung Website () and is asking you, as a specialist, about specific technical features.

Read carefully the pdf file entitled “Samsung_Galaxy_Note3_TechSpec.pdf” provided in your TMA folder, then, answer each the following customer’s questions:
a) This mobile phone permits the user to connect to several types of mobile networks: GSM, GPRS, EDGE, 3G, 4G, etc. What is GSM? and why is the GSM connectivity included in such a novel smartphone device while it seems to be very old compared to 4G LTE? (Explain). (4 Marks)
b) What does “802.11a/b/g/n/ac” mean? What kind of details does it provide? Explain and give examples. (4 Marks)
c) What does AMOLED stand for? What does it mean? And what are its advantages?
(4 Marks)
d) How many processors does this mobile phone contain? What is its processing speed?
(2 Marks)
e) How much internal memory storage capacity does this mobile phone contain? RAM storage capacity? Can we consider these capacities as high and why? (4 Marks)
f) Under the Battery section, what is “3200 mAh”? And why the maximum usage time differs when the mobile is used for different purposes? (4 Marks)
g) What is the mean current in the mobile phone’s circuit when Wi-Fi is used for 13h of continuous internet browsing? (Show the formula you used and the calculation steps clearly). (3 Marks)

Question 3: Data Compression (35 Marks)
A T215A student bought a 50GB blue-ray disc and is willing to use this disc in order to store a 40GB raw video file. Help this student in more efficiently using the blue-ray disc as a storage device by answering the following questions:
a) In no more than 200 words, explain the main idea behind the blue-ray disc technology: what does a blue-ray disc mean? What technology is used for storing and reading data? Draw a comparison table between CDs, DVDs, and Blue-Ray discs. (8 Marks)
b) Express the storage capacity of this blue ray disc in bits. (4 Marks)
c) Using a writing speed of 576 Mbits/s. How long would it take to store a 40GB raw video file on this blue ray disk? (4 Marks)
d) In no more than 200 words, explain what data compression is and give a brief overview about the well-known MPEG2 compression technique. (8 Marks)
e) How small would the 40GB raw video file become if it is compressed with a compression ratio of 15? (4 Marks)
f) Use the same writing speed in “question c” to calculate how long it would take to store the same video file after its compression. (4 Marks)
g) Would you recommend compressing the video file before storing it on the blue-ray disc? Why/Why not? Justify. (3 Marks)

Part1: Discovering computer organization and architecture

1) The electronic device that revolutionizes computers is the “Transistor”. In no more than 50 words, give a brief explanation of a transistor.

2) To understand how a computer works, the computer machine is usually divided into a hierarchy of seven levels.
a) Give a name for each of these levels.
b) Link each of the following to its appropriate level: A binary instruction, the Von-Neumann execution cycle, an instruction written in Visual Basic, Windows 8,Microsoft PowerPoint, an AND gate, an assembly instruction.
Part2:Working with binary numbers

3) Converteach of the following numbers tothe destination radix (show all your calculations and conversion steps).

4) Consider the following hypothesis: “At the digital logic level of a computer system, all decimal numbers are represented in binary (base 2). However, the same binary number can be equivalent to different decimal numbers (base 10) if treated by different binary numbering systems”.The aim of this exercise is to check the authenticity of this hypothesis.
a) What is the decimal equivalent of the binary number“100101101”, if treated by:
a.1) A 9-bit unsigned whole numbers system?
a.2) A 9-bit signed magnitude system?
a.3) A 9-bit Complement 2 system?
a.4) A 9-bit floating point system where the binary number isdivided, from left to right, to the following fields:
 Sign bit : 1 bit length,
 Exponent: 4 bits length (without biasing),
 Mantissa: 4 bits length.
b) What can you say about the initial hypothesis? Is it correct?

Part3:Boolean algebra and digital logic

5) During a T103 lab session, the students were asked to implement the simplest circuit of the following logical function: . Hence, they were firstly asked to suggest its simplest logical diagram. A student called Simonsuggested the following logical diagram:

The aim of this part is to prove that Simon’s suggestion is correct but not the simplest and that F can be implemented using only one gate.
a) How many gates do we need to implement the logical diagram suggested by Simon?
b) Refer to Simon’s logical diagram above to find the Boolean expression of its output function Fs. Then, use Boolean identities and algebra to represent Fs in its simplest sum of products form.
c) Prove that Simon suggested a correct logical diagram (i.e. F and Fs are logically equivalent).
Note: Use the method you find convenient.
d) Deduce a logical diagram for the function F much betterthan Simon’s (in terms of number of gates).

Part 4:Working with MARIE

6) We need to build a program that does the following:
- Reads two decimal numbers (entered by the user) and stores them at addresses X and Y respectively.

 SubtractsM[Y] fromM[X] (i.e.: M[X]-M[Y])
 Stores the result at address Z
 Outputs the result.
- Else (i.e. M[X] <=10)

a) Use MARIE assembly language to write the previous program.Use “org” instruction to start your program at address 100.

b) To verify the correctness of your program, use MARIE Simulator to run it three times taking into consideration the following points:
- For the first run, consider that M[X] > 10.
- For the second run, consider that M[X] < 10.
- For the third run, consider that M[X] = 10.
- For each run, add a screenshot of the simulation’s result (A screenshot for the MARIE Simulator window). Ensure that memory addresses X, Y and Z and their contents(M[X], M[Y] and M[Z]) are well shown as well as the output in Decimal.

الموضوع الأول : (10 درجات)
تزداد العناية في المرحلة المتوسطة بتدريس الطلاب على تذوق النص الأدبي بعد فهمه وشرح معناه، وذلك تمهيدا وإعدادا لما سيدرسه من نصوص أدبية نقدية راقية في المرحلة الثانوية. تحدث في مقالة في عشر صفحات عن النصوص الأدبية في المرحلة المتوسطة من حيث أغراضها وكيفية تحقيق تلك الأغراض، وطريقة تدريسها، مع تقديم نص أدبي كدرس تطبيقي.

الموضوع الثاني : (10 درجات)
تعد البلاغة عنصرا أصيلا في الدراسات الأدبية، إذ تلتقي مع الأدب في الأهداف والغايات المرسومة. في مقالة من عشر صفحات تحدث عن البلاغة من حيث الغاية منها ووسائل تحقيقها، والأسس التي ينبغي الإنتباه لها في درس البلاغة، وكيف يمكن تدريس البلاغة في درس النصوص، مع تقديم نص بلاغي كدرس يتضمن تطبيقات شفهية وكتابية ومعالجتها وفق ما درسته في المقرر.
