I think you want to prepare (Brady's reagent) to run a test for Aldehyde and Ketones, so, here's the procedure
Dissolve 0.03 g of 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine in 40 ml of methanol containing 0.3 ml of concentrated hydrochloric acid and dilute to the mark in a 50-ml one-mark volumetric flask with the methanol. You can use conc. Sulphuric acid instead of HCl. Prepare this solution fresh each day
Well, if you asking about the SOLVENT , you can use Methanol or Ethanol but make sure 1st that the other reactants dissolves in them, generally use 2 drops of conc. Sulphuric acid as a catalyst for the coupling reaction
